July Dressing 6: Biker Chick
The height of summer may seem an odd time to buy or wear a leather jacket, but when you find one for just ten dollars, how can you resist?
The leather jacket is by New Look, bought at Rainbow Shops in June 2018; the lace v-neck floral t-shirt is from Kmart's Basic Editions line in February 2015; the black faux leather skirt is from Target's Xhilaration line in October 2013; the shoes are Fioni "Loveit" black patent pumps from Payless in May 2011. Other accessories are a floral headband, silver jewelry, and natural hose.
And a portrait:
No idea when the next chance to dress will be....

July Dressing 5: New Skirt
I've found a new place to shop! Actually, it's been around for a while, but I never had an opportunity to look it over until recently. A chain called Rainbow Shops moved into the space formerly occupied by my old fave, Fashion Bug. I picked up a couple of items there. This is the first.
The red blouse is by Lee Rider, bought at Kmart in September 2017; the grey pencil skirt is brand new, by Lisa, and bought at Rainbow Shops in June 2018; the shoes are Mossimo "Velda" red baby-doll oxford pumps, from Target in August 2008. Other accessories are a floral headband, gold jewelry and natural hose.
As usual, a portrait:
One other new item to show off tomorrow....

July Dressing 4: Polka-Dots!
Yes, I'm a big fan of polka-dots....
The navy polka-dot blouse is from Kmart's Basic Editions line in June 2012; the black pencil skirt is from Fashion Bug in February 2011; the shoes are Madden Girl "Karlla" polka-dot pumps from DSW in June 2011. Other accessories are a polka-dot bow, silver jewelry, and natural hose.
"Or blow me a kiss, and that's lucky, too...." 20 sissy points to those who recognize that reference:
That ends the outfits from the marathon session at the end of June; next dressing opportunity later in July.

Happy Fourth!
Given the political turmoil in our country of late, I wanted to be sure I didn't neglect this day, so Here's a posting from back in 2011:
Last week I got into a somewhat heated discussion with my wife about the story of NBC Sports "editing" the Pledge of Allegiance in a patriotic montage they used in their coverage of the US Open. (They took out the part where the class of kids said "under God".) I argued that we had made a fetish of this piece of much-edited 19th Century doggerel ("under God" was added in the 1950s, "indivisible" sometime before that) and that I would much rather our schoolkids memorized something with real meaning to our nation's values. Asked what that should be, I responded, "How about the Preamble to the Constitution?" I think that is something schoolkids should recite every morning, rather than an oath of allegiance to a piece of cloth.
Well, we're coming up on Independence Day, so I went looking for something to celebrate with here. I'd have loved to find the musical version of the Preamble I sang in Junior High School chorus (but all I could find was the Schoolhouse Rock song--it's cute, but doesn't have the drama of the one we sang). Instead, here's a little kitsch...William Shatner as James Kirk, from the Star Trek episode "The Omega Glory". Like anything Shatner does, it's a touch over the top, but....
Happy Fourth to you all!

July Dressing 3: Black-and-White
Another of my oldest dresses, still looking good....
The dress is from Fashion Bug in January 2011; the shoes are Brash snakeskin D'orsay pumps from Payless in October 2016. Other accessories are a blue bow, blue jewelry, blue belt, and patterned hose.
There's hardly been a bad portrait in this whole run:
