We close out April with all new clothes. Having gotten a $10 off coupon from Kohl's, I went to check out their clearance racks and came up with a top, a skirt and two pair of pants...one faux-leather (size 16) and one satin (size 18). I was quite prepared to have to return the leather ones, but I was certain the satin ones would be a good fit.

Wrong!! I couldn't get the satin pair closed around my waist, but the leather ones were a perfect fit ~ as you can see in these pictures. (The satin ones are from the Dana Buchman line...obviously they size small.) I went to a thrift store to find a top to go with them and came out with this lovely linen cheongsam style blouse with a mandarin collar.

The print dress is from Fashion Bug in April 2010; the shoes are Fioni "Knotty" yellow canvas sling-back peep-toe pumps from Payless in June 2010. Other accessories are hat, gloves, blue jewelry, and natural hose.

The blue blouse with embroidery is by Joanna, a thrift shop find in January 2013; the blue pencil skirt (so tight I call it my "hobble skirt") is by Cape Cod Sportswear, another thrift shop find from May 2011; the shoes are Mossimo "Valonia" blue patent pumps from Target in March 2009. Other accessories are pastel bow, scarf (another rescue from my wife's Goodwill bag), silver jewelry, silver belt, and natural hose.

OK ~ here's the plan:

I shot three photo sessions today. I will post the results of each one day at a time...the first today, the second tomorrow or Thursday, the last Thursday or Friday. Somewhere in there ~ Thursday or Friday ~ I will post the new replacement for the poll (more on that when it happens).

At any rate, we start with this low-cut, high-rise dress.



The pink and gray dress is from Target's Xhilaration line, purchased in December 2009; the shoes are Fioni "Hilt" poppy patent pumps from Payless in June 2009. Other accessories are pink bow, gold jewelry (new necklace!), and patterned hose.

No Poll Results

I've decided to give up on the poll for the time being. There are two reasons:

1. Blogger's poll function continues to be problematic ~ some weeks it is fine, others it drops votes willy-nilly.

2. Interest seems to be very low...most weeks I get fewer than ten votes on the poll.

What will replace it? I have no idea.

In other news, this week there will be only one dressing day (Tuesday), but I plan to get in three outfits.

"I went to a garden party...." Those lyrics from Rick Nelson's song immediately came to mind when I saw the results of this photo session. Where else would a lady wear this dress, hat and gloves?



The filmy blue print dress is by JBS, bought at Burlington Coat Factory in April 2008; the shoes are Fioni "LaMode" light blue peeptoe pumps from Payless in April 2010. Other accessories are the hat, blue jewelry, gloves, and natural hose.

The birthday celebration continues...this outfit was far more successful than I imagined it would be:



The purple top with the drape collar is from Kmart's Attention line in December 2009; the black chiffon skirt is one of my earliest purchases from Wal-Mart's George collection in December 2007; the shoes are Steve Madden "P-Echo" black patent pumps, bought at Famous Footwear in May 2012. Other accessories are pastel bow, scarf, silver jewelry, purple belt, and natural hose. The scarf is new, sort of. Over the weekend, my wife was clearing out some old clothes and she handed me a bag to take to Goodwill...on top were a pile of very nice scarves, all of which I "rescued" and put with Dani's attire.



At one time, I wouldn't have considered purple/violet my color...but increasingly I like the way it looks on me:

Happy birthday to me...not to "Dani", her birthday is in December, marking the day I first began dressing again after 30 years. Today is my male self's natal anniversary.



The brown jersey dress is by Attention from Kmart in April 2008; the shoes are L.e.i. "Turf" brown plaid Mary-Janes from Wal-Mart in September 2009. Other accessories are white bow, scarf, gold jewelry, gold belt, and natural hose.
