Vote!

I've never done this in all my years on the web, but...

It's a week until election day and I'm urging every single one of you to go out and vote. I don't care who you're supporting (personally, I'm supporting Obama), just go out and vote. Don't tell me you're in a non-battleground state like California and it won't matter...there are Congressional and Senate and local elections and state and local referenda, propositions and initiatives. They're all important.

Oh--if you are in California--there's one position I urge you to take: Vote No on Prop 8, the anti-gay marriage proposition. I'm pretty sure most of you are in favor of gay marriage, but don't skip voting on this one. That's just what the bigots want you to do...they're counting on lots of people who will only go into the booth to hit their choice on the top of the ticket and look no further...because they've energized their base not to do that.

Don't support Obama!

He loves redistribution of wealth. That's socialism. And historically socialism comes with restrictions of rights. But more than that, Obama has consorted with TERRORISTS and has voted to cut funding for the troops in Iraq.

I'm a Republican and my girlfriend is a Democrat. She's never voted for a Republican but she's doing so this year because of this.

Please think about this.

I didn't post that to start a political argument.

In reference to the first comment~typical fear tactics that many of U/us are sick and tired of hearing. As if republicans don't restrict rights-I bet they will be beating down the door voting to restrict the rights of gay and lesbian couples to marry in Ca.

Let's think about that one.

P.S. And next time, have the balls to leave your name and website!

I always stay anonymous on TG sites and I pretty much lurk just about everywhere else. And I don't have a website. I'm not on Facebook, Livejournal, MySpace, etc. And only by girlfriend knows about the full truth about my sexuality. I haven't even told my parents because I know they would neither approve nor understand.

Yes, there are quite a few Republicans against gay marriage. But they also typically champion the Bill of Rights, which quite a few Democrats seem to want to tear up. But I will concede that this might not be a totally fair view because an ex-liberal (don't ask me to remember the name because he's not famous) did mention that a certain number of hardcore Marxists have infiltrated the Democratic party. So these might not be true Democrats.

Anyway, in the state where I'm from the state constitution was changed so that only marriages between a man and woman would be legally recognized. And it was voted on by the constituents. However, in New York City, City Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden, a Democrat, pushed for a ban on trans-fat in New York restaurants. And it was passed. However, it was done by a vote of the Board of Health. It was not voted on by the citizens of New York, which it should have been. No, I don't know how many Republicans were on the board at that time, but in other cities where such bans have been considered, they were being pushed by Democrats.

Just on a side note, Miss Conventional, I did get a chuckle from your use of "balls" based on the type of site this is.
